Linda Hickam, the author's wife writes to us

Linda Hickam, Homer Hickam, Jrs. wife, takes time to write the class a letter. She shares some exciting resources for us to investigate and explains their busy calendar! Her letter is posted here.

Dear Mrs. Heaton and her class,
Linda Hickam here, Homer's wife and assistant. Indeed several of your sweet students have written Homer and I, and have mentioned your blog and exciting class activities. It is obvious you are their "Miss Riley", wonderful.
We would love to contribute BUT you have caught us at our most busy time with both of us in and out of town and therefore scrambling to catch up with all our writing projects before we dash to the next place. It is a combination of vacation and work - Homer is just finishing traveling and promotion his booktour for book eight The Ambassador's Son and we head to Italy next week for a birthday trip for me. Then he travels to Montana to watch them dig for the first T-rex he found (he has found 2 of the 31 in the world) - now THAT is fun! Check out our website http://www.homerhickam.com closely for some fun stuff like info on that. We have a search engine to help. The Coalwood button has really neat links and info. Also go to the Books button, then scroll down to the Other Writing section and there are fun essays there about serious and cool things - like Homer's hobby of launching Barbie dolls in his rockets in Montana...
Glad you were so inspired by Homer's photo and letter. We know you all aim high now. Our advice really has to make reading a part of your lives and you will never be without an adventure. Aim high!
Linda Hickam

Another communication:
Linda,
take a look
at our class blog at www.lisaheaton.com you'd enjoy it.
Lisa

Lisa, we sure have been there, that is where I got your addy to respond.
It is grand, much fun and andcan keep going for a while. Amazing that
these are fifth graders, thank you for reminding me of that, as from the
writing, I was sure they were high school. This new tech age is helping
kids to learn to write (and thank you for making them communicate
properly there :) and a few good teachers will keep them reading BOOKS
too...
Thank you!
Linda Hickam
