Because I'm bored.
	Transonic shock wave build up. Helps to visualize the transonic drag rise . Which, for all of those at home, has nothing whatsoever to do with new age music, or cross-dressing fashion. Just in case that wasn't clear. All the airflow in front of the shock wave is supersonic, while all behind is still subsonic. Eventually, if the fighter pushes through "the number" the shock wave will detach from the wing and fuselage, and the jet will "lean forward" just a bit. If you're outside the jet, you'll hear the sound of the sonic boom. Inside, you won't hear anything - all that sound stuff is behind you, falling further in trail. You can still talk on the radio though. That's a whole 'nother kind of speed. Here is a lovely description of all of this. Cheers!
