The next time a Hollywood celebrity tries to
impress you with his political acumen :

Only yesterday I wrote: :...(I)t's very
unlikely that a Michael Moore will bestir his elephantine corpulence to bewail
that it was so unfair the hurricane struck New Orleans: Didn't it realize that
New Orleans didn't vote for Bush?
Ah, well. Farewell innocence.

Interesting article today in the NRO - had to do
with the support network for
She-Who-Will-Not-Be-Named.

Lord, I love this
guy.
In a totally heterosexual way, of course. No wood at all. Zero. Nada. Zilch.

Nose: Hey, what's up
man.
Face: I hate you.

If you find that you're digging a hole for yourself...
But there's the chance that maybe you
didn't.
Wed - August 17, 2005
Have you ever been to a really loud, really busy party where everyone is talking all
at once and you're only trying to make yourself heard over the din? And then,
you either say something good, or it just happen that your normal mediocrity
gets lifted to meet the moment on the crest of a rogue wave, and all of a sudden
the eye of the world is upon
you...
And then you discover that you're plumb out of new things to say? Sitting there in the spotlight, stammering, helpless? Dare I say it: Naked.

To over-react...

By now it's impossible that anyone is unaware of
the theatrics unfolding outside the President's
Crawford ranch. It's all over the main media outlets, and like anything touching
on the war these days, is being used by one or another side of the political spectrum as a
whipping post to abuse the
enemy.
Which is not, in case anyone gets confused in today's hyper-charged, vituperative political environment, the people who killed Mrs. Sheehan's son.

And an equally improbable night. Cheerleaders,
it is. Which is a gerundive with an entirely different psychic evocation than it
ever had before, when it's your youngest daughter who's becoming the noun. For
the love of God and it's sure to be the death of
me.
So I'll keep this short. Sweet I can't promise.

A guest Op-Ed columnist in the NYT today poses a
fascinating possibility on the origins of autism. The Hobbit works with autistic
kids at the local high school, so our interest is more than merely academic -
his conclusion?

Or the telling?
It is said that a law and order conservative is a
live-and-let-live liberal who has been mugged. Such conversions tend to be
traumatic, especially those that are engendered by events on a global, rather
than merely personal scale. And sometimes the folks left behind get get downright snarky. Faced with a Radical
Islamist enemy committed to the destruction of everything the liberal left
purportedly stands for, Nick Cohen, left/liberal commentator on the UK
Observer's staff has been drummed off the team for being insufficiently
anti-war.

Thu - August 4, 2005
Was in a bit of a funk yesterday, as the post
below reliably attests. Sometimes you just want to stop the train
here.
And get off. Before anything gets any
worse.
Do you ever feel that way? A sense of some impending... not doom precisely, but something maybe slightly less forbidding. The feeling that your nose has not quite yet been punched, but that something is on the way to do so. You can almost feel the blood trickling... |

"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." - John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Ceasar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friederich Nietzsche "Blogito Ergo Sum" - Neptunus Lex About Me Email me: Solidarity
