Only yesterday I wrote: :...(I)t's very
unlikely that a Michael Moore will bestir his elephantine corpulence to bewail
that it was so unfair the hurricane struck New Orleans: Didn't it realize that
New Orleans didn't vote for Bush?
Even the undeserved boons of being born a Kennedy
and telegenic won't protect a man when even the NYT has to say, sorry, not here.
We dohave standards , after all.
It's nearly as awful as the rest of
it, the bodies aren't even all swept up for proper burial and already people are
grinding the partisan ax. Good God, what have we
become?
(H/T to Glenn and Jeff for links. Using their first names. Like
we're down, or something.)
Oh, and
while I'm on about it, let's please just put aside all talk of shooting looters.
It's the 21st century, for all love, and even grand theft is not a capital
offense. I'm thinking flex cuffs, and prison
stints.
But no
shooting.
And the east coast Navy is on the way, not being
otherwise too occupied it seems. Which is a very subtle way of both praising my
service, and sticking a finger in the eye of the "other fleet." I feel so wicked
now.

"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." - John Paul Jones
"Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Ceasar and Cleopatra"
"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friederich Nietzsche
