Interesting article today in the NRO - had to do with the support network for She-Who-Will-Not-Be-Named.

    According to Byron York:
    -
A notice on (SWWNBN's) website... asks for donors who might be able to offer a camper, or an RV, or just money, for SWWNBN's upcoming cross-country tour, scheduled to begin Wednesday in Crawford, Texas, and end in Washington at the big antiwar demonstration scheduled for September 24. At the end of the note, readers with something to offer are asked to "please call organizer Lisa Fithian."
    -
To anyone familiar with the world of professional protesting — protests against globalism, capitalism, war, police tactics, and dozens of other causes — the presence of Fithian is a sign of how far SWWNBN has strayed from the roots of her "one mom" crusade against George W. Bush. Or, perhaps more accurately, it is a sign that the "one mom" crusade was never just one mom. Fithian is a legendary organizer who operates in the world of anti-globalism anarchists, antiwar protesters, and union activists; an advocate of aggressive "direct action" demonstrations, she protested the first Gulf war, played an important role in the violent shutdown of Seattle during the 1999 World Trade Organization meeting, was a key planner in protests at the Republican and Democratic national conventions in 2000 and 2004, and organized demonstrations at trade meetings in Washington, D.C., Prague, and Genoa.
    -
Although she has received virtually no attention from reporters covering Sheehan, Fithian has been part of the Crawford protest from the very beginning.
    -
The name rang a bell. Ah, yes. One of the teammates for "peace activist" Bill Dobbs, the same guy from "United for Peace and Justice" who crowed so loudly when the Washington Post backed out of the Freedom Walk memorial for the 9/11 victims.
    -
Busy little activist, isn't she? Flitting from protest to protest. Part of one big happy activist family. All that activism - I wonder how she pays the bills ?
    -
Speaking of which, I know a great deal more about the tactics of the Code Pink folks than I new when I wrote the post linked above. Enough to believe that the average useful idiot trotting out stupid slogans in front of Walter Reed Medical Hospital is unreflectively deluded by an organizational leadership dedicated to using truly reprehensible tactics.
    -
One of the Code Pink people, a polite but mildly irritated middle-aged woman, singled me out for some reason to earnestly complain about this sign calling the Code Pink people Marxists. I politely disagreed, saying that it was a fair sign and gently pointed out that Medea Benjamin, the co-founder of Code Pink, was a Marxist with a long history of supporting enemies of America. She blinked hard a couple times. My impression was that she had never heard that before.
    -
That's why they call it due diligence. (You'd be proud of me, I think - I just barely resisted the temptation to finish that last sentence with ", dumb ass." It was close though. And H/T to Matt for the link)
    -
And although the connection is tenuous at best, my blood is up, so do go and read Jeff Goldstein eviscerate a Northwestern prof who argues that well, in Jeff's words: "Indoctrination isn't really indoctrination" when it's left/liberal doctrine being crammed down the students' throats. Ah, well. As long as it isn't on the test. Speaking of the academy, I wonder how that sort of posing would go down with the students in this NRO article, former Marine Sergeant Marco Martinez and Marine Corporal Armand McCormick - two gents that who, between them, have one more Navy Cross and Silver Star than does your humble narrator.
    -
Martinez and McCormick take the high road when they're faced with sanctimonious ignorance: They shrug, move on and get back to studying. Which is something that Lisa Fithian and her friends at Code Pink could usefully take as good advice. I guess that's part of why they're heroes. Tell me: What is Fithian, again?

    Credo

"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." - John Paul Jones

"Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Ceasar and Cleopatra"

"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friederich Nietzsche
