Team Discovery is doing for Lance Armstrong exactly what they've been hired to do:

"In what must be a numbingly familiar scenario to Armstrong's opponents, Discovery led the peloton with a vigorous pace through a valley up to the base of Courchevel.
His teammates took their usual efficient turns setting the pace and peeling off when they were out of gas. The last man left with Armstrong was promising 25-year-old Ukranian rider Yaroslav Popovych, who may inherit the mantle of team leader next year."
Professional cycling is about suffering, pure and simple. Who can take the most. And in the Tour de France, it's about suffering for a very long time. There are 12 days left and many miles until the champion stands upon the winner's block at the Champs-Elysees, and an accident inside the pumping madness of a field sprint could change everything. Twenty-five year old Spaniard Alejandro Valverde, winner of the most recent stage, showed no sign of flagging on a grueling stage that broke the hearts of many a veteran contender. But already, people are talking about who's going to be standing beside Lance in second and third place. After today though, this man will wear the yellow jersey:

Look for him to wear it at the end. It's become something of a habit for him.

    Credo

"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." - John Paul Jones

"Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Ceasar and Cleopatra"

"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friederich Nietzsche
