People in the public eye, and their fear of flying

If you Google around, you'll find lots of references to famous and trying-to-remain famous people saying they're anxious flyers...

Surfing about the Internet to see how the media covers fear of flying turns up some interesting stories.

This recent one features the English pop singer Javine who is to perform at a concert soon, but must fly to it in Gloucestershire, UK. Since it is being held as part of the biggest military airshow in Europe and she's afraid to fly, the Royal Air Force will offer her the chance to be the first civilian to participate in their fear of flying program.

Are you, like me, curious to know what that might entail? Here's the story from the BBC from mid-May 2004 (her concert is mid-July) which describes Javine as "sky-shy" - kinda catchy don't you think?

Hopefully, by following this story, we'll get a chance to see how the RAF works its program. I am actually curious as to its usual candidates - pilots after incident, non-flying support staff who must be ferried about the place? Any guesses?
