The technology that keeps an airline running: Esther Dyson speaks with JetBlue Head of Technology, Todd ThomsonThe analogy that an airline is like a
swan gliding along a lake, while its feet are peddling madly and inelegantly
under the surface rings true in this 7 minute video clip.
Esther Dyson is a much respected Internet
identity who runs a website (amongst many things) called Release
1.0.
Recently, she interviewed JetBlue's CIO
Todd Thompson about how technology helps the airline make adjustments to
schedules, crews, weather, unexpected events and all those things airline
advertisements don't mention lest it interfere with your impression that it's
plain sailing, or flying. To see the streaming video, you'll need to have installed Real Player or Windows Media Player for Windows or Mac and preferably a faster connection. You can see the video here. Posted: Wed - April 26, 2006 at 08:24 AM | |
