Keynote 4 Pictorial: The iPhone/Apple TV Keynote allowed Steve Jobs to preview what's coming next to Apple's best of breed presentation application.
Keynote 4 - new effects showing what we can expect very soon... a few text-based transitions were skipped as being nice but hardly worth the bandwidth. Click on the first image to start the slide show with full size images. For the first time, the Keynote is available as free downlodd from the iTunes Store It's >1GB!

Let's start with this rare shot of what Jobs sees. Two monitors allow him to enjoy Keynote's Presentation mode. The larger monitor shows the current slide, atop the smaller monitor which shows the next slide. Me, I prefer to make the bigger image the next slide.

Looks like the reflection effect is more flexible than in Keynote 3, allowing rotation to occur.

During the AppleTV segment, we get to see Core Animation at work. Multiple images move on and off screen at variable speeds

One image slides speedily, while another slows down while it gets to centre stage

Using Zune's less than impressive initial market share, the pie chart segment is an animation sequence showing the "growth" of the wedge from nothing to 2%. Surely the epitomy of the thin edge of the wedge.

On the other hand, iPod sales also show much animation as they consume the bulk of the pie.

In this sequence, we get to see movement along curves, and behind other objects.

The object to the left of the AppleTV starts to rise.

...and finishes up above the other images

Hinting at the iPhone - a rotating zooming cube effect, showing icons for iPod, phone, net communicator. Perhaps a specially-concocted animation?

This sequence shows a new effect. We start with the word "Software"...

You'll need to look closely, but coming in behind is the word "Breakthrough"...

..which busts apart "Software" sending the actual letters spiralling away. Very effective match of effect to wording.

...and letters keep flying off into space... is this the Sagan effect perhaps, looking something like the BigBang theory. (this one's for the Apple historians)

Staying with the astronomical theme, we start with the "usual suspects"

... and a comet draws in from the left

obliterating the suspects...

... it's a very fast "whoosh" left to right...

... and beginning to reveal...

before exiting stage left, Abbey Road on the iPhone

Advanced Core Animation with multiple words moving from left to exiting right..

words assemble...

then exit right, disssembling on the way out...

More examples of movement on the slide combining with other effects...

The smartphone slides left while its price fades...

It hides behind the iPod and a new price emerges.

Added bonus: retro Keynote courtesy Cingular CEO! What a juxtaposition!

While receiving wild applause while lauding the iPhone, CEOman surreptitiously reaches for his version of Keynote

It's Quicksdraw McGraw!

The classic twohander to begin!

Using the "one hand" style is clearly stressful

Catching a breath before the big test...

An ambidextrous Keynote! CEOman employs his left hand now... that's how you get to the top of the cellphone industry - flexibility!

... and a delicate touch!

Watch the spectacular "right under left" transition!

... and he doesn't even look down, until...

... "how does Steve concentrate with two monitors?"

half way through

These columns grow... new metal finishes will have a place in some presentations at metallurgy conferences

Apple Computer feels the effect of pixie dust..
