| There are many interesting opinions on Powerpoint and its effects on presentations, both in business and academia. Here is an academic paper by Yiannis Gabriel and Dorothy S. Griffiths of Imperial College, titled: "Against the tyranny of PowerPoint: new avenues for passionate learning?" It comes from a conference earlier this year whose papers were freely published in two (pdf) volumes, entitled, "THE PASSION FOR
LEARNING AND KNOWING - Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on
Organizational Learning and Knowledge (Edited by Silvia Gherardi and Davide Nicolini). The paper is a good read for those, who like me, are concerned about slide shows, especially how so many are currently presented. If Office 12's Powerpoint gets more bells and whistles, will it encourage users to offer simple or more complex (more inpenetrable) presentations, because they can? |
