Pssst! Leopard's only twelve weeks away, in case you got distracted recently...

I thought I might mention while the iPhone aftereffects are still being felt (and anyone who can type is offering their review - good/bad but never indifferent!) that we are only twelve weeks (give or take a week) from Leopard's official release.

So while everyone's yada yada-ring about the iPhone the Cupertino elves must be putting the finishing touches to the next feline that will excite the tech. community which we can all join in - no matter where we live, and which telco we're signed up for.

Then watch the Apple nay-sayers truly come out of the woodwork, because the iPhone was merely the forspeis (pronounced "for-shpice").

My prediction: There will be one more out-of-the ballpark product release before Leopard to bring to the jaded consumer the technological trifecta. A new piece of software? A new hardware kit, like a smaller Macbook, or some other unexpected shiny thing?

Whatever, expect the unexpected in the next twelve weeks. The Apple tsunami is building...

UPDATE - August 4, 2007: Apple has announced there will be a Mac-oriented media gathering next Tuesday August 7 at Apple HQ, Cupertino, led by Steve Jobs. Various rumour sites are expecting new iMacs, and possibly new notebooks, as well as announcements/previews of iLife and iWork suites, for 2008.

UPDATE - August 11, 2007: Well, the Apple event has come and gone, and I stand by my original prognostication. Apple didn't rest on its iPhone Laurels, but gave us new iMacs and Mini, and new versions of iLife, iWork (taking it up to Microsoft by including a spreadsheet to challenge the MS Office domination), and significant updates to .Mac in terms of useability, data transfer, and iDisk size.

I think that completes the trifecta leading up to Leonard in 8 weeks!
