We don't usually see an Australian publicly announced Mac event following the Steve Jobs' Keynote in San Francisco at MacWorld.
This one is due to start about 6, 9 hours after the Keynote concludes (yes, I'll be up in the wee hours watching it - update: looks now like it won't be broadcast), and my best bet is the local event will announce the imminent arrival of the iTunes music store in Australia. Pricing? With the Australian dollar ascending against the Greenback (more the US dollar's slide) it's hard to predict what songs will sell for - let's hope it discounts the Telstra-based pricing.
This will really set the cat amongst the local music download pigeons, and should see even more sales of the iPod range go through the roof. Wipe off those halos, Windows users, the "halo effect" is about to kick in.
Just as well the local Macintosh user group to which I belong, iMug, is ready to help any and all Windows users make the switch to the Mac platform.
Of course, you can still access the iTMS using iTunes for Windows... if you have to!
(And if I'm wrong, then let it be a super new Apple product!)
Update post-date: It wasn't about the iTMS for Australia after all, but about Apple products... those contractual disputes must be costing a fortune to work out |
