| Mac user and blogger Khoi Vinh to become New York Times Online Design Director | | Date Created: 01 Jan, 2006, 11:27 PM |
Just as I discovered this wonderful blog while prowling about for news and views of presentation software, especially Apple's Keynote, I discover its creator has left to take up a new position.
But it seems I'll still be seeing lots more of his creative efforts.
I'm speaking of Khoi Vinh's blog known as Subtraction.com.
Vinh is a young Vietnamese Designer and New York City resident who several years ago set up a design studio called Behaviour and its most recent very public brief was to redesign the website for The Onion.com.
I liked what he had to say comparing Keynote with Powerpoint, such that while acknowledging the many features Powerpoint sports over the Apple product, the latter's design pedigree wins out, such that he has been regularly using Keynote for weekly presentations.
So it probably came as some surprise for his regular readership and clients that he has sold his share in Behaviour, to take up a very exciting new job: Design Director for NYTimes.com.
It ought to come as no surprise that Khoi is something of a Mac fan, and his excellent Moveable Type-based blog discusses his affection for the platform, its applications and its shortcomings. Just look at how he wreaks magic from his blog which makes others, like my own, look very amateurish indeed (which mine is!)
Congratulations, and what might Times online readers expect with a Mac-oriented person at its design helm? |
