LFO Midi Matrix for Logic Parameter Control (screenshot near bottom of page)

06-06-11

For those who may find it useful, here is a text document of native Logic Plugin parameters (Logic 7.1 ) Logic Plugin Parameters

OK, I am sufficiently happy with the application now to offer it as a direct download.

Disk Image : 8lfosBuild6d (10MB)

This includes the Logic Song necessary to implement the app, a pdf of instructions and a presets file.

Major Update!

8lfosBuild6c is now running. This adds/changes the following;

Patcher is now rebuilt as an application, so users should no longer have to download and install the Max/MSP Runtime Environment .

All Preset Menus can be loaded and saved with a single click (advisable that this is the first/last thing you do when using the app), and are successfully reloaded on next use.

Updated with the following bug fixes;

Preset Menu names can now be stored. The is a new 'Load Menu' bang in the presets section of the patcher, coupled with a 'save Menus' bang (Don't forget to Save before quitting the patcher!). As a general rule, keep to loading menus first , BEFORE reading the patcher presets file. A small bug in matrix 21 prevented the destination parameter from being transmitted to logic - fixed.Decision taken to not make a collective'application of the patcher, as this causes a few problems regarding file location etc on user machines. The patcher is now provided is a Max/MSP patch, enclosed in a folder containng all the tables and preset files. Play with those files at your possible peril of discordant menus and lfos! The patcher opens fine with Max runtime Environment installed on your machine. This also gives those with the full blown Max/MSP app the opportunity to see my working (albeit rather scrappy in places!), and edit/play with to their heart's content !One lasting bug is the occasional (normally around starting up the patcher) misreading of menus. Repeating the selection of a preset cures this, and I haven'y managed to get it to happen more than once on a session yet - to be investigated (considering cooking up some spaghetti and staring blankly at it for a few hours - it will probably amount to the same thing!).More updates to come...mainly getting the midi controller support wired in...Working on a manual too.

til next time - regards - leigh

A call to anyone interested in testing a little max/msp patcher designed to send lfo control to object/fx parameters within logic pro 7.11.

Before we start, what you will need...

1 x Apple Mac

1 x copy of logic pro 7.11 (usability with express version unknown..quite a few transformers are used in the logic environment.)

1 x copy of max/msp runtime application (free app)

1 x midipipe virtual midi router (optional) (donationware - I shall be donating v. soon thankyou mr midipipe!) http://homepage.mac.com/nicowald/SubtleSoft/

To get a rough idea check out this screenshot..

If you would like to help beta-test this little beast then feel free to email me at leighuhnt at mac dot com.

I can then provide you with a Logic song including the environment setup needed, the max patcher, and setup instructions.

In reutrn, if you could test and provide me some feedback, I would be very grateful.

This app is destined to be released as freeware when stability is proven over a few users

I have this working on my G3 500MHz laptop with cpu usage within the patcher set at 20%, so we are not talking about a processor intensive app here! It also runs fine for me on my G5 1.8GHz 900MH bus spd together with Logic Pro.

oh.....and why?.....I always dreamed of a modular synth setup, one thing triggering another, action and reaction, sound mimicking nature...but the cost of such a setup prevents this from happening!!

Also in the pipeline are a multitrack step sequencer, with lots od nice controls like patch imterpolation.....

More on this one when time permits......
