Hissing Fauna, She Wants Revenge.

Joel played "These Things" in the car on one of our rides home. I sat up and asked, "Is that Interpol?"
I am only one of legions who have asked this question, apparently.
The lyrics sound like journal entries from a man hired to stalk sexually complicated, fashionable women. Not a major key in earshot, She Wants Revenge is a Joy Division simulacrum, eerie and catchy, lounge music for Emily the Strange and Gloom Cookie.
(Check out the boy shorts on the album cover model. I always knew you had to weigh a maximum of 80 pounds to look good in boy shorts.)
Still in somber lyric dress, but with melody and instrumentation on the other end of the emotive spectrum, is Of Montreal's Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? I have a special fondness for A Sentence of Sorts in Kongsvinger, with its self-pity extravaganza of an opening line: "I spent the winter on the verge of a total breakdown while living in norway."
