Absinthe and ambulances.

A new person in my life lives in High Fidelity.

His personal soundtracks have titles like "Drive," "Absinthe Green," and "Ambulance Stories (Reprise)." He gave me several CD's one evening, when we met for chocolate at Max Brenner, where the waiters are close-shaven and soft-spoken and easily spooked by too many customers. (However, the Chiapas - a frothy "choctail" served in a margarita glass, made from white chocolate, creme de cassis and vodka - is worth any number of shy waiters.)

Listening to them has made me think of my own soundtracks. It is akin to wanting to write after reading a good novel. Having iTunes tempts me. More on this later.
