Ad Night at the Museum.

The Creative Guild Ad of the Year Awards dressed up for a change; the Metropolitan Museum of Manila was such an inspiring venue that the invitations, for once, said "strictly formal."

The Creative Guild Board of Directors, 2007. That's David Guerrero, Peter Acuña, Joey Campillo, Dino Jalandoni, Budjette Tan, Third Domingo. On the red settee are myself and Merlee Jayme, our determined President. Cropped - that would be Jake Tesoro. Thank you to Lilit for going into major paparazzi action. None of the Y&R guys remembered to bring a camera.

Neenu did bring hers to work, so before Joel and I left, she shot this souvenir:

Joel's line: "She's the outgoing President, so I'm the outgoing PSG." Outgoing McVie certainly is.

I don't have a shot of Marlon demonstrating the proper tying of a bow tie to David as we waited for the show to start. Actually, it would have made a good instructables segment. Or, because of the personalities involved, a juicy not-so-blind item in Adobo. (I received an Adobo newsblast today saying that Ogilvy's missing one of their gold trophies. A shame - those will be collectibles now, as the trophies will quite likely be redesigned in time for the 2008 show.)

Congratulations to Richard Irvine, ECD of Leo Burnett, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame (and who was generous enough to give a shoutout to Y&R in his acceptance speech!); and Jimmy Santiago, honored with a Lifetime Achievement award. Shoutouts to the JWT team behind Ponstan, TV campaign of the year, and Ogilvy for Dancing Lights, their holiday ad for Max's that brought home TV ad of the year. I'm sure someone else will blog about the other winners.
