Miami heat.

That's the hotel I'm in, the Shelborne. It looks perfectly decently Art Deco by day. By night, in the lobby, I feel like I'm in a gangster movie about to get offed by some guy wearing heaps of gold chains.

I still find it hard to believe I'm actually in Miami. Although I grew up on Sesame Street and, like many of my generation, was brought up in the American television landscape, I never really thought this country was an interesting place to visit. (Well, except New York. And New York bookstores.)

The Shelborne's just a couple of blocks away from the Miami Convention Center, where the Clio Festival is. Compared to AdFest, the Clio Festival seems small and sparsely attended. Then again, you're talking relative populations here. I wonder what Cannes will be like.

Those are the Soroptimist ads, on display at the exhibition hall.
