Congratulations! It's a camera!
I've bought my first new camera in two years. Shock shock horror horror, 'tis not a Nikon.
The brushed champagne finish of the Sony Cybershot DSC-N2 helped it stand out, just a teeny bit, from the digital devices displayed willy-nilly in the shop window. I also looked at several new Coolpix models, but they seemed more staid, stuffy and reliable than I cared for them to be.
So the Cybershot it was. (And so much for me and my anti-proprietary-storage-device stance.) What clinched the deal, aside from the young, helpful salesgal at Fortress, was the touch-screen panel. A poor man's iPhone interface.

The macro's not bad. This image has been corrected for levels, but details are sharp and colors are accurate, including the really nasty fluorescent lighting.
