Lucien's Log: Bangkok.

Once Mommy gets an idea in her head, she sets out to do it. Even if it is in a haphazard, somewhat panicky way. So that was how our family Bangkok Blowout came to be.

Thanks to Tita Pris, who is as kind as she is pretty, we had a van and driver to take us around. It was a good idea because I can get quite testy when my routine is bothered by such things as vacations, and we had my grandma and granduncle with us, and I do believe they can get a bit testy too. They get it from me.

Day one was two airports and a mall. MBK is the destination of choice for many Filipino families who need to buy pasalubong. We didn't go there for pasalubong, but for dinner. We were all quite pooped when we returned to our hotel. It was called First Hotel, and we learned that the best way to get to our room was via the secret elevator. While we were there, both regular elevators were being given fancy mirrors, and just like older ladies going on spa and cosmetic surgery vacations, they were always in maintenance mode.

Day two saw the family trying to do everything for the photo opps.

They told us to keep our hands off the sides of the boats. I didn't know they were bump boats! Our boat had a man with the oar, but other boats had engines and bullies that splashed water into our boat.

Lola kept my hands inside the boat the entire time.

Whenever we go on vacation, there is always a shot of me posing with some kind of wildlife. Here I am with a baby and mommy elephant at the Samphran Crocodile Farm, where they have more than just crocodiles. Obviously.

Riding crocodiles is not allowed. Riding elephants is, and it costs 50 baht per adult person, and 50 baht per baby person. Discriminatory they are not! In this picture you can see Mommy, me, Lola and a bit of elephant.

We visited the Reclining Buddha later in the afternoon. He was very, very shiny, and Lola wished good things for me. The Buddha looks like a laidback kinda guy, and I think he smiled at me.

We are shoeless. Everyone takes off their shoes at the entrance. I am a baby person, so they let me keep my socks. The walls in the temple are much, much nicer than our walls at home.

On day three, it was the weekend market at Jatuchak in the morning. I fussed, because it was hot. I was better behaved in Siam Paragon, one of the newest malls in Bangkok, but not by much. The best part of the day was Siam Ocean World, where I got to see crabs bigger than me, a car converted into an aquarium and Mommy throwing a little hissy fit because I kept shaking off my shoes. I also had my first taste of popcorn. I like popcorn. And fish. I think I like fish.

I have had a very relaxing break. I'm sure the rest of the family did too. I did hear voices raised over a certain stroller embroiled in a bureaucratic mixup - but no use crying over spilt milk. I should know.
