Lee Sullivan has always
had a fascination for the magic of cinema and
the illusions of visual effects. As a teenager, he
experimented with scale models and
animatronic
puppets, and he directed several short films on video and super8
film.
After getting a degree in International Development from
The College of William and Mary in 1995, his first job was in Chong
Qing (Chun King), China with a joint-venture company running cruise
ships on the Yangtze River. After
his return to the U.S. he
quickly found work
doing
high-end digital effects for
television
commercials and broadcast design in Miami, Florida.
After moving to Los Angeles at
the age of 25, he worked on the digital visual effects on several
features including the first "Harry Potter" film. At this time he
began
to specialize in the integration of digitally rendered characters into
live-action shots. In 2002 he moved to New
Zealand to work on the second and third films of the "Lord of the
Rings" trilogy, and in 2004 he moved to Europe, where he
worked as a
Technical Director on the
visual effects for such major films as "Troy", "Lord of War" and
"Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory." While pursuing a successful career as a
visual effects artist, he has also written
and directed several short films (both animated and live-action), two
of which were sold to cable TV
channels. He is currently based in Paris.
