One of the turreted coastal artillary gun mounts of Forte Copacabana points toward the setting sun and the Copacabana beach. During the revolt of 1922, the fort did not fire on the city but instead used the roar of the cannon, firing seaward, as a signal to start the rebellion. (Photo by Kathleen G.
