Our Neighborhood
Here are some photos from our neighborhood to give you a look at life in Japan, religious, social institutions, schools, and more. Click to enlarge.

This is the "Nambu" line.
Our new home in Takatsu, Kawasaki
A look down our street. Garbage awaits collection.
Not just houses. Many hi-rises... apartments.
...can be found all over our neighborhood.
Hi-rise apartments like this...
There's lots of kids to invite in these hi-rise apartments.
Anyone know the make of this car?
Okay...religious institutions...
...here is a Catholic church in our neighborhood.
Not far away is a Methodist church (center).
A shinto "mini" shrine...
...is part of this apartment building.
Such shrines are everywhere.
This is a large Buddhist temple...
and still another (near us).
Here is a JW Kingdom Hall in our neighborhood.
Community centers...
...like these are gathering places.
This is place we rent for our church activities.
Across the street is another community center.
Small shops dot the area.
This is where the real shopping gets done.
I can't count the number of photo shops we have.
Recognize this store? Want a sushi slurpee?
Our neighborhood also boasts a department store district.
The street is lined with department stores.
Yes, we have one of these in our neighborhood, too!
Also, one of these! Mmmm!
The bread factory can be smelled from our house.
In stark contrast are the little mom&pop factories like this.
The science park is a major presence...
...and a major employer...
...for the people in our neighborhood.
We plan to use the stage at this kids cultural center as well.
Here is another.
And still another.
Our local elementary school.
Very restricted access.
We've also been invited to do puppets at this gradeschool.
Kids ids are coming out of the cultural center.
Here's the major train station in our neighborhood.
Here is another train station near us.
The "Denentoshi" line...
...crosses the Tamagawa river, our neighborhood's natural boundary.
Our local library.
Hard to believe, but that (center) is the police station.
That's our post office (complete with security guard).
