Hello! Thanks for stopping by and welcome to my blog - a place where I talk about wedding planning, my life as a wedding & portrait photographer, and general observations. Feel free to let me know you stopped by with a comment or two - I look forward to hearing from you!
A lot of times people ask me how they should
dress for an engagement session and it's a tough question to answer, really.
You want to look casual and fun and not to formal, while wearing something that
really is very 'you.' I loved how Jennifer and Corey (getting married July
14th) dressed for their engagement session last week. Jennifer's black and
white polka-dotted dress is fun and fits her really well and her flats add a
nice casual look to it. Corey's red shirt and jeans look great against the
b&w dress and he also looks comfortable and casual while still being
stylish.

Tips: Dressing for a Portrait
A lot of people ask me how to dress for a
portrait session, and I often tell them to try to incorporate color in a way
that is fun, cheerful but not too distracting. I love these photos of Michelle
and her daughter Olivia because I think it really shows how great styling can
enhance photographs. Olivia wore a fantastic colorful dress that was cute but
not overly formal, and it complimented the garden setting where we were
photographing. Michele's green and white outfit is stylish and chic but still
not too stuffy for strolling about in the park and sitting in the grass.
Michelle's choices of a darker color on top also help draw attention upwards to
the focal point of their faces when photographing the two of
them.
With these great color choices,
I was able to create an album for them that incorporated some complimentary
tones and I am so excited about the result. If you know Michelle please don't
say anything to her husband as this is a father's day
surprise!
