CAST

James Bond, Agent 007 (Pierce Brosnan)

Pierce Brosnan returns for his third stint as Agent 007. This time, he's assigned to protect Elektra King, whose father was killed in a bombing at MI6. He soon finds out about a plot to take over the world's oil supply, and enlists the help of a nuclear weapons expert (Richards) to stop it.

Dr. Christmas Jones (Denise Richards)

Richards (Starship Troopers) plays a nuclear weapons expert who Bond turns to for help in defusing Renard's plot to take over the world's oil supply. While Jones agrees to lend Bond some advice, she soon gets caught up in far more than she bargained for.

Elektra King (Sophie Marceau)

Elektra is the daughter of an oil tycoon and an old friend of MI6 head M. When her father dies in a bombing, Bond is assigned to protect her, and soon begins falling for her. But he soon finds that she has less noble intentions than continuing her father's legacy.

Renard (Robert Carlyle)

Carlyle (The Full Monty) plays the evil villian who has a bullet lodged in his brain, rendering him impervious to pain. Renard launches a plot to take over the world's oil supply, and soon enlists several people to assist him, including Bond's new charge, Elektra.

M (Dame Judi Dench)

The Oscar-winning actress reprises her role as the head of MI6. This time, M sees an old friend killed by a bombing at MI6 headquarters. She asks Agent 007 to guard her friend's daughter, who soon leads Bond, into a plot to control the world's oil supply.

Q (Desmond Llewellyn)

The familiar and much-loved staple to the Bond films returns for his 18th reprise as MI6's gadget wizard, Q. This time, Q not only has to deal with the frustration he feels around Bond, but with the headaches brought on by the bumblings of his new assistant, R (Cleese).

R (John Cleese)

John Cleese (of Monty Python fame) plays R, the bumbling new assistant to Q. R's role will be to assist the gadget wizard at MI6 and to assume the role once Q "retires."

Other cast members include:

Samantha Bond: Moneypenny, M's trusted secretary.

Robbie Coltrane: Valentin Zukovsky, an enemy turned ally turned enemy of Bond (last seen in GoldenEye)

Maria Grazia Cucinotta: Cigar Girl, who Bond pursues down the Thames River after an explosion at MI6 headquarters.

John Seru: Gabor, a bodyguard for Renard, the villian.

Claude Oliver-Rudoph: Akakievich, a Russian colonel who falls for Renard's propoganda

Ulrich Thomson: Davidov

PLOT

The World Is Not Enough begins at MI6 Headquarters in London, England. A bomb goes off, killing Sir Robert King, an old friend of M's and the father of Elektra King. A high-speed chase ensues on the Thames River to capture the guilty parties and concludes at the Millennium Dome.

After the bombing, Bond is charged with protecting the Elektra (Marceau), who has just inherited her father's vast oil empire. Bond begins falling for Elektra, but soon gets distracted by a villian's plans to take over the world's oil supply. He later discovers that his newest charge isn't as innocent as he thought.

Bond encounters Renard in his attempt to protect the world's oil. Renard bears an unusual trait: A bullet lodged in his brain renders him unable to feel pain. Bond finds that it is Renard who is concocting a plan to hold the world's oil reserves hostage -- a plan that involves Bond's latest charge, Elektra.

Bond enlists the help of Dr. Christmas Jones (Richards), a nuclear weapons expert. She soon becomes entangled in Bond's attempts to foil Renard's plans.

Filming locations included England, Scotland, Spain, Turkey, France and Azerbaijan. Action scenes include a chase down the Thames River to the Millennium Dome in England; a pursuit of Bond and Elektra on skis as they are chased by parachutists across the French Alps; and an explosive helicopter attack.
