Prayer

Mr. Hugh Potts, Jr., Elder of First Presbyterian Church

Holy Father, who has crafted all things, and who orchestrates all events, You are good and full of goodness. You load us up with blessings. We are the beneficiaries of your grace and mercy. Your lovingkindness and tender mercies are ever before us.

We are your adopted children through Jesus, Your only-begotten Son, whom You spared not in our behalf. In and through Him we have standing and relationship with You, having a certain righteousness, acceptable to You, though not our own. Knowing the death penalty for our sins has been levied against Thy Son, we give Thee humble thanks for choosing to wage this great battle on this high ground.

You have shown us Your power. You have once again conquered death, removed its sting.

You have proven Yourself faithful.

You have done battle with fear, doubt, evil, despair, confusion, and we taste Your goodness. you have chosen at this time and place to do great and mighty things which we know not. We lift our Ebenezer to Thy great faithfulness. You alone are trustworthy. We believe You when You say You will never leave us nor forsake us. We are comforted by Thy promise of irrevocable favor toward us through Christ.

We await Thy coming.

We have Thy praise upon our lips. We delight by grieving in hope. We shout in victory as we anticipate other battles.

We stand on hallowed ground.

Let not one tear be wasted. Let not be one cry be for nought. Let no slough of despond be too deep. Let not one lip be silent. Use our struggle and Your victory to show forth Your glory. Return joyous laughter. Bring revival. Burn the dross. Heal our wounds. Leave no void. Fill our emptiness with Yourself.

Amen.
