Cigarette case=camera case
I was searching for a camera
case for my Pentax
Optio S4i at
Akihabara, but the generic ones were too big, and the one made by Pentax was
butt ugly. So I left Akihabara empty-handed, disappointed. On the way to my gate
at Narita Airport today, I stopped in a Cartier duty free shop and saw a sleek,
black leather case adorn with a silver arc on each corner of the flap. It closes
by magnetic, yet, no metal clasps visible. The case looks to be the size of the
Optio S4i. I took the camera out of my bag, slid off the brown faux-leather
case, then slid the camera into the black case on display. The camera fits
perfectly, with just enough room for the strap to hang loose. It's pricey at
20,000 yen, but, hey, it's Cartier, and I had to have it. I took the case to the
counter and the clerk retrieved a new one for me. As she was ringing it up, I
asked whether this case is made for cameras. She told me in English that it
isn't, that it is a cigarette case. Then she added that it nonetheless fits
nicely with my camera. I agree with her. Now I can put the faux-leather case
back where it came from, on a USB media card reader.
