Independent study
This course is designed for students enrolled in HSCI 3013 section 995, History of Science to Newton at the University of Oklahoma -- but the textbooks are easily acquired, the non-textbook materials are freely available online, and the course is ideally suited for independent study. None of the course activities require direct instructor intervention.
The only difference in doing the course as independent study is that you would not be getting feedback from me and from other students in the class. The discussion board is restricted to OU students. This discussion and feedback is a very important part of the class -- so why not find a few friends who might be interested in doing the course together with you? That way you can read each other's writing and share ideas! In fact, you can even set up your own discussion board at Yuku, which is free and very easy to use.
If you have any suggestions or requests about how I can make this course more accessible for non-OU students working on an independent study basis, please let me know! Kerry Magruder, kmagruder@ou.edu
