Web Project assignment: Final Clean-Up
Note: Because of my delay in grading web projects, everyone will receive credit for this assignment. But I hope you will do a final clean up of your project anyway!

This week you will do a final clean-up of your Web Project!

Go back and re-examine each Episode you have published, and work on those pages to get them into really good shape. This is also a chance for you to take a look at your Web Project page (project.html) and Introduction page (intro.html) to make sure that they are accurate and up to date as well. Make sure that you proofread each of your pages during this clean-up week, and that you also look carefully at the comments from the other students to see what suggestions they had for you. Refer to the instructions for publishing each episode for a list of things you should keep in mind as you do your "clean-up" work.

Let me know when you're done cleaning up

When you have checked on all of these issues and feel like your Web Project is all "cleaned up," then send the instructor an email. If you have questions about any aspect of your Web Project, go ahead and ask now! Please give the email a subject line that says "3013-WebProject-Week15".

Clean-up week Grading

Here are some notes to let you know how the "clean-up" week is graded. I will be randomly spot-checking various parts of your Web Project. It might be the coverpage, the introduction and/or your episodes -- I might check one page, or all your pages. Based on what I find when I check the page(s), you may lose points for the following:

• Spellcheck. If any of the pages in your Web Project has spelling errors that would have been caught by a spellchecker, you will lose 5 points on the assignment. The Composer program contains a spellcheck feature (Edit - Check Spelling) and since your website only has five pages in it, you are expected to have run a spellcheck on each and every page.
• Corrections. If you have failed to take care of any required corrections described in comments I may have mailed to you, you will lose 2 points for each item not corrected.
• Proofreading. If there are errors that you could have caught by simple proofreading, you will lose 2 points for each error.
• Broken Links. If you have links which are broken, you will lose 2 points for each broken link. To be 100% sure that all your links are working, you should test your pages on another computer (that's the best way to make sure you have not accidentally linked to a local file on your hard drive, which no one else can access). Broken links also include broken image links (when an image is not displaying) and broken email links.
• Clickable Links. If you have listed a web address but have not made that into a clickable link, you will lose 2 points for each unclickable address.
• Visible Links. If you are using a dark background, have you changed the link text color and the visited link text color so that they can be clearly seen against the background? You will lose 2 points for each invisible link.
• Required components. As explained elsewhere, each Episode must include a title, three kinds of content (background, source, and interpretation), and three kinds of notes (bibliographic, image, and author's note). You will lose points for Episodes that are not complete.
• Navigation. Is there a link to each Episode from the Web Project page, along with a link to the introduction? Does the introduction have a link back to the Web Project page? Does each Episode contain a link back to the Web Project page? You will lose 2 points if any of these navigation links is missing.

And if you were wondering, no, you cannot lose more than 10 points on the assignment. But in order to get the full 10 points, you need to make sure that you have checked the pages in your website very carefully. It is very easy to lose points, so make sure your clean-up is thorough!!!

After this clean-up, you should be proud of all that you have accomplished in the web project this semester. I hope you will maintain it in the future, and show it to your friends and family! Congratulations!
