Day FourWe visited the pyramid San Felipe los Alzati and
enjoyed the grounds at the Hotel Agua Blanca.
In the morning we did a birding walk around the
grounds. We were also on the lookout for other types of butterflies and I was
able to photograph this zebra longwing.
On our way to the to the pyramid we saw other tropical plants and butterflies.
To read more about the pyramid San Felipe los Alzati go to the Mexico section. This was a very interesting site to see and the views from the top were spectacular. When we returned to the Hotel Agua Blanca we were hot and tired from our climb to the pyramid so many of us decided to try the famous mineral pools at the hotel. It is said that even emperors of various Indian cultures many, many years ago would visit here and use the pools. The story goes that when Ponce de Leon was looking for the fountain of youth the local people purposely mislead him. These pools are said to be the real fountain of youth so check and see if I look younger when I return to school!
03 De Viaje.m4a This music is from a CD that was produced to help conserve the monarch reserves. Along with the CD there were handcrafts on sale at Agua Blanca to support the efforts of the local artisans. In the early evening we went to find roosting butterflies. We saw some but not the ones we were looking for. We did see some bats as the sun was setting. Once again I tried to connect to the Internet to send this information to all of you. I wasn't successful. Thursday should bring us into Malinaco where there are more reliable connections. Posted: Wed - March 9, 2005 at 11:43 PM |
