Going Home
On Saturday morning it was time to make the
journey back to New York.
There were three of us who decided to share a
taxi and head to the airport together. First we had breakfast together in the
hotel and then I went with another member of the group to find an ATM to get
some more pesos. We hopped into our taxi at 12:30 and headed off to the
airport. On Saturday Mexico City sidewalks are very similar to what you see in
New York City. There are many, many people trying to sell things on the
sidewalk. When you arrive at the airport you turn in your tourist form to your
airline and they check your bags. Then I had a very long wait as there was
computer problems at the airport and my flight was delayed. I did a little
exploring and found a McDonald's that had Snoopy toys in their Happy Meals. It
took a little help from another woman to explain to the girl at the register
that I just wanted to buy the Snoopy toys! Finally at 4:05 we were lifting off
and heading to Dallas, Texas. Because the flight was so late I had to book
another flight to New York when I arrived at Dallas. I could only get the the
last flight to Laguardia Airport. But first you have to clear customs and then
go through security again. We left just after 9:00 pm and arrived in New York
City at 1:00 in the morning. It felt good to be home again and with so many
wonderful memories!
