Forum
Who We Are
The Margaret Roper Forum is a
small faith community, providing Catholic education within the
framework of the family.
- The Forum was founded in 1967, and has been
providing religious education for over 30 years for adults and
children.
- Our current membership consists of over 70
families.
- Forum members are drawn from Delaware, Montgomery,
Chester, Bucks, and Philadelphia county.
- The Forum is a cooperative association guided
by an executive committee elected annually. The executive board
consists of the Chairperson for each committee: Liturgy; Curriculum;
Adult Education; Social Action; Hospitality; and Membership
- The Forum encourages and fosters a strong
sense of community and fellowship among its members.
Education:
- A religious education program is provided
for grades K-12 with a course of study that complies with the
Archdiocese of Philadelphia Religious Curriculum Guidelines.
- The Forum provides an adult education program
with speakers from the rich religious teaching resources of the
surrounding area colleges, universities, and the Archdioceses
of Philadelphia.
- The curriculum includes sacramental preparation
for Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation. Our children
have received these sacraments together for over 30 years.
- A large percentage of the students remain
active in the Forum throughout their high school years.
Social Action:
- The forum maintains a relationship with St.
Vincent's Parish in Germantown, PA.. We provide food and volunteers
for the Soup Kitchen, participate in the monthly casserole preparation
program, clothing drives for the thrift shop, and financial support.
- The forum has a relationship with Holy Name
Parish and School in Camden, NJ. We participate in the Adopt-a-Family
Christmas Program and provide financial support for the parish
school.
- We provide Christmas gifts for the Southwest
Community Center Christmas Drive.
- The forum has sponsored a needy family in
West Philadelphia with services including: food, job interviewing
skills, gifts, clothing, and recreational activities.
- Families and classes participate in: the
AIDS Walk; Special Olympics; Walk for Hunger; Nursing Home Visitation.
