The file names for Polish Records typically have the following naming convention:
Example file name "papowo baptism 1779 05-10 to 10-07 2 pages full 1194817"

=> papowo   (parish)
=> baptism  (record type)
=> 1779      (year)
=> 05-10     (month/year start - May 10)
=> 10-07     (month/year end - October 7)
=> 2 pages   (optional information)
=> full        (page scope; partial is used when not all of the page is included in the file)
=> 1194817  (LDS microfilm No)

Baptismal Records - Parish of Ciechocin (Golub-Dobrzyń) added March 1 , 2009

The towns and villages found in the following records include: Brozozowka, Ciechocin, Dolnik¹, Elgiszewo, Gierlach¹, Gapa¹, Jasionka, Józefowo (Jozefowo), Kolankowo, Lązynek (Laszynek), Lega, Lelitowo, Małszyce (Malszyce), Mierzynek, Mileszewy, Młyniec (Mlyniec), Nowa Wieś (Nowa Wies), Osmialowo, Osmialowo Romonek, Rudaw, Sęk (Sek), and Szembekowo.

¹These towns are sometimes prefaced in the records with "Molendium" or "Młyn" which means "mill" in Latin or Polish, respectively.

Baptismal Records - Parish of Dobrzejewice, Toruń added March 13 , 2009

Many of the records from the parish of Dobrzejewice contain two dates. The first date was the Julian calendar date used by Russia. The second date was the Gregorian date used by Poland. The Gregorian calendar was a correction to the Julian calendar as decreed by the Roman Catholic Church. Poland adopted the Gregorian calendar in 1582 but Russia did not accept the change until 1918.

For the date range of the following files, the difference between the dates was 11 or 12 days. I chose to use the Julian date since this was the official date at the time the event was recorded.

These files also include handmarks I made while transcribing the records. Please use caution when reading my transcriptions as I have learned an awful lot since then and some of the hand marks are incorrect. It's always best to backcheck someone else's transcriptions. I have links on my main page for sites I found helpful while transcribing. While this may seem like a daunting task, most of the narratives have the same format and transcription becomes somewhat repetitive (that is, after you get past some of the atrocious handwriting!).

Baptismal Records - Parish of Papowo Toruńskie (Thornisch Papau) added March 1 , 2009

The baptismal records of Papowo Toruńskie are primarily in narrative form in Latin with each event being written across two sheets of a book. Unfortunately, the books were microfilmed full left page then full right page. So, to make any sense of the record, one has to put both sheets together. Also, during microfilming, the book was not open fully so portions of the record written in the middle of the book are missing.

Each PDF has two pages equivalent to the full left and full right pages of the book . Where possible, a JPEG was created for a panorama of the two pages making it easier to read on the screen. Also see Explanation of Polish Record File Names
