Another rainy day

Well yesterday was a beautiful sunny day, great for lounging round outside on the garden swing, but not so great for catching birds. Rainy days (like Saturday & today) are best for that cos the rain sound drowns out the sound of my bell, so it's easier to sneak up on those birdys.

I got one on Saturday & I had it under the house. I was making all these howly-type noises & M&D came out to see what was going on! I didn't come out at first, but then M saw me come out with the bird in my mouth and locked the cat door so I couldn't get in & massacre it in the wardrobe. Bugger!

Anyway back to today — it's raining you-know-whats & dogs. . . so I'm having a big sleep with Georgette on M&D's bed.

A sunny day

Well not a lot going on today. Everyone was out & about. I went over & visited the lady over the road, then Spud came to work on the section (it's a mess) so I shot back over the road to see him.

(Only a couple of toots) & Spud looked V surprised to see me.

Anyway it was sunny on the swing so I watched him work for a while, then had a bit of a snooze. After the sun moved round, I went & had a bit of a sleep on Harry's bed. The next thing you know everyone's home, so I made a nuisance of myself in the kitchen till I got some real MEAT. (I didn't let Georgette get any).

Well, after that I was a bit tired so I went for a nap on the pile of clean washing that hasn't been folded up yet. "Ooh Angelo, you're not supposed to sit there!" Yeah, right!

Morning

Oops! Last night Mum found a little pile of cat-chuck under the table. It had bones & feathers in it. . . .

Just after that, I heard her phone the cattery. . . .

Anyway, later I helped her wash the dishes and clean all the chicken off the bench. And this morning I charged up the stairs (rrowrring) to have a big snuggle with her while she had her cup of tea in bed.

Georgette was already there, under the blankets.

Everything seems OK.

I hope they don't go away tomorrow, though.

It's my birthday. I'll be 2.

Afternoon

Well I think Mum's a bit hacked off with me. Not only did I sit on the pile of clean washing again, I also ripped up the Partridge Jewellers catalogue all over it.

She's folded up the washing now.

Tomorrow's my birthday. I'll be 2.

It's my birthday!

Well it’s my birthday today! I’m 2! I spose you want to see a picture of me when I was little? Here I am.

When I first arrived, they said I was a “Squit”!
I think I look cute. Here I am with Dad.

It took them AGES to figure out my name. Dad wanted to call me “Thruster”. I actually think it would have suited me. . . Some of the other things they thought of were pretty wussy though – Tui, Rifty, Felix (not!) & a whole lot of other silly names. All things considered, I think Angelo was a pretty good choice.

The lady over the road calls me Angelo Diablo; not sure why.

I visit her every day. She likes me to help with her housework & stuff.

I help her make the bed, & clean the bathroom. Did I mention that I love water?

Anyway, she even lets me go in her toilet. She has to flush it for me. I don’t know why, but when she first saw me doing it she was amazed! She had to ring all her mates & even M&D to tell them about it.

Actually I visit most of the neighbours, even the electrician away down the street. Once when I was little, he had to ring Mum to come & get me. “I think I’ve got your cat here” he said. Well I was just enjoying myself playing with his grandkids toys, but I was whisked away home. I went back though. He didn’t seem to mind.

Anyway — “Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday dear Angelo, Happy Birthday to me”.

Growing up

I’ve been thinking. Now that I’m 2, if I wasn’t a cat, I would be a teenager. Scarey.

I’ve had a pretty exciting life, though. I mean – how many of you guys have been 4-wheel drive surfing? I got about a kilometre down the main street on the roof of the neighbours 4x4 before they realised & braked! I had to go to the vet after that – my chin has never been quite the same.

But SO FUN!

Labour weekend

Well, we didn't go away after all! Excellent!

It's not that I don't like going to the Cattery. . .

We had to stay here & re-weatherboard the studio.

We all helped.

Mum dropped a roll of building paper on her finger & said a bad word, then Dad dropped a macrocarpa pile on her foot & she said a few more things. Georgette made funny noises & ran round in circles every time Dad used the power saw, and I'm pretty good on a ladder.

Here's some pictures, so you can see how hard we worked!

No walls!

They go here

Road sense

Actually I’ve got pretty good road sense. I’ve been crossing the main road & strolling down the middle of it ever since I was little. The cars always stop. Sometimes they give a friendly little toot & sometimes even squeal their brakes – just to show off — & occasionally they sort of wave at me.

Mum & the neighbours are obviously impressed by the way I handle myself on the road. I’ve seen them go pale with pride & they call each other up to say how well I’ve done some days.

I really impressed Mum one day when she was coming home from work. I darted impetuously in front of her wheels as she was pulling into the driveway. She was SO impressed with my agility she gave me a HUGE hurty hug.

She is SO pleased to see me each night when she gets home. Not sure why she thinks I might not turn up one night. . .

Mum's Bday

Georgette screamed upstairs this morning to give Mum a big bday smooch! (She thinks every day's Mum's bday).

The gift of feathers

Harry came home from his school camp down the West Coast last night. I'd prepared him this thoughtful gift which I'd left for him in the middle of his bedroom floor. But I was puzzled to find it gone after M&D got home from work.

Harry coped manfully. I gave him the gift of a big snuggle in bed instead. I don't think he even noticed though — he was out like a light the minute his head hit the pillow!

Beautiful day

It's a beautiful sunny day & we're home alone! D & Harry have gone to see Holly get her school prizes. She's got 2!

We are just lounging round in the sun. Well me & Georgette are -- M is messing about with vacuum cleaners & floor mops & clothes baskets.

I might just go & have a wee rest on that new pile of clean, unfolded washing. . . .

Disaster

You will not believe this!!!!!!!!!! I've had to go to the Vet twice. In one week. The first time was just for vaccination & check up — and that was bad enough. But then I got into a bit of a scrape & my foot all swelled up! So, blow me down — I was bundled off there again this morning and had to have ANOTHER injection. And Mum's got these HUGE pills she has to give me, We'll see about that. . .

THEN we had to go & watch Harry play cricket.

At least we're back now. I'm off to recover on the swing. . .

She's back

Well Mum's back. We were pretty good while she was away. Georgette only threw up on the bed once & I behaved myself.

She didn't bring us any presents though. Doesn't she know it's nearly Christmas?
