RECOMMENDED LINKS

There are numerous web sites devoted to Kilimanjaro.
Here are a select group I found to be highly informative and easily-accessible.

GENERAL

Kilimanjaro: To The Roof of Africa
http://www.kilithemovie.com
Newly-released (March 2002) and slowly making its way across the planet, this gorgeous-looking IMAX-format film documents a trip up Kili's Western Breach via the Machame Route. See it!

Peakware
http://www.peakware.com
A collection of summit logs and commentaries from all over the planet.
I corresponded with several climbers on the Kilimanjaro page. The majority of whom were most helpful. I got valuable tips from many of these kind souls.

Altrec.com’s "Crown of Africa: Unlocking the Secrets of Mount Kilimanjaro"
http://www.altrec.com/features/crownofafrica
A must-read introduction and resource. Particularly valuable is the suggested physical training regimen. The author makes only the briefest mention of the interesting Rongai Route, but otherwise covers the mountain in admirable detail.

Paul Sheperd-Smith and Jon Hind’s "Kilimanjaro 2000 Machame Route Trek"
http://www.wesleyrd.freeserve.co.uk
Prime material for those interested in the "Whiskey Route" as the guides and porters refer to the Machame. Jon was tremendously helpful to me and I am greatly appreciative.

Eric Cheng’s Kilimanjaro Resource Page
http://www.echeng.com/travel/kilimanjaro
The narrative is occasionally self-absorbed at times (even moreso than this site), but overall well-worth one's time and effort. Nice design, good info and fine photos.

OUTFITTERS

EWP
http://www.ewpnet.com/homepage.htm
A Welsh company that runs climbing and trekking tours in East Africa, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. They serve as an intermediary for ZARA (see below).

ZARA TRAVEL
http://www.zaratravel.com
http://www.zara.co.tz
Tanazanian expedition company and the largest on Kili. They own the Springlands Hotel where we stayed on our first and last nights in Tanzania. It appears ZARA has at least 2 web sites.
