I started growing my hair out in April 1995 back when I lived in Chicago and came close to cutting it during the gruesome heat waves we had that summer.
The weekend before I left for Kili I got a crewcut. It was a difficult decision, but I figured that since we wouldn't be bathing for a week while on the mountain, I didn't want to be infested with anything by the time we got back to the hotel.
