Powder Mountain

Powder Mountain, near Ogden Utah, is quickly becoming one of my favorite ski resorts. It has great terrain, slow lifts, no lines, and hardly any people. It reminds me of what a ski resort ought to be, and what ski resorts were like before the mega-resort expansion.

Powder mtn epitomizes what slow lifts and small parking lots can do for snow; there are fresh lines to be found all day, and the mountain does not get tracked out.

When Brian, Sara, Susan, our friend and guide Matt Conlin, and I went to Powder on Sunday, we found ourselves skiing in fresh pow pow.
But, the mountain closed down around 2pm because of a power failure. We were forced to go home...However, Matt had spotted a roadside jump down the mountain, and was eager to hit it. So we packed up our things and drove to his secret spot...
We checked it out...not too big, good landing...
The track was incredibly slow however, but got faster each time we packed it down with our approach. It got fast enough for a few good pics...Matt in the first one, and Susan in the second. I am in the pic at the top of the blog.

Go Susan!
