Winter Storm Warning

The night of Dec. 6th blanketed SLC with snow. From about 2pm to 10pm, the valley collected several inches, and the benches, where Susan and I live, must have had 8 to 10 inches in spots. As I sat and watched the blizzard condition outside my lab window, the roads into the canyons were shut down, and a controlled avalanche stranded skiers and riders in LCC. Brighton resort reported 19 inches overnight.

I was able to get my friends Jason and George complimentary passes to Brighton. This was the view from the cafeteria as we eagerly awaited first chair on the following morning, Dec. 7th. Note, bluebird powder day!

The view of Mt. Millicent from the Crest Express chair (picture taken by Jason Biggs). Magnificent! Excellent turning conditions, but COLD! -7 degrees F was what George's REI thermometer read at 9:00 am. But, the snow was awesome. Shin to knee deep, super light, and not a cloud in the sky!

This was the best day of riding so far in the early season. Deep soft pow pow. Looks like mid feb. out there!
