First Turns

It has been an incredible week for snow. Apparently, the Thanksgiving break was horrible for turning conditions: icy, bullet proof, east-coast snow predominated while Susan and I played on the beaches in Hawaii. After we got back, over 3 feet of new snow fell between Nov. 27th and 30th. The picture above is from the morning of Dec. 1st, on my way up to Brighton for the first day of the season. The conditions were good...ankle deep powder, white out, and cold. But, there were still alot of rocks and not all the lifts (Millicent and Great Western) were open...

Another 8 inches fell overnight, and the next day would collect 15 inches. I would be there for this.

This is Eric Veien looking quite satisfied after his first day in the parking lot of Brighton on the morning of Dec. 2nd (the next day). In the few hours we were there, this is the snow that collected on the top of my car. Turning conditions were excellent. Fresh lines off Snake Creek all morning. It was sad to leave, but there will be more days, and we have experiments to do!
