Tuesday Morning Delight

a view towards northward to Big Cottonwood Canyon from the top of Days Fork.

Snow fell in earnest over the weekend, laying 20 inches or so of 8-9% snow. I had gone up to twin lakes pass on friday afternoon before the storm, to check out the snow, and found it to be less than ideal, but mother nature cooperated again and laid down some snow that bonded well (as well as it could, given the circumstances)...however, there was some sluffing and cohesive layers, especially where the wind got to it, as we found out on our first descent into Days fork. Nothing dangerous, per se, but kinda spooky none the less.

Nelson leading the way

and surveying the scene. check out all the tracks behind him!! this is just the second blue bird day in so-called "was-angeles"!!

eric dropping in and side-stepping the slabby, wind damaged area below him...i'll do the same. can you see Nelson at the bottom? he's that speck directly downhill from eric's helmet.

an obligatory self-photograph at the top.

the run back to alta. did i mention that it got tracked? oh, i guess i forgot to mention how gooood the snow was on the other side. it was deep, soft, white, and cold. all good stuff.
