OTHER
TECHNOLOGY
While Wikipedia
has been criticized for
having false information posted by the public, it is a very
good source for up to date technology information. File
formats, media formats, online technologies, etc. are
covered in great detail. It is a great starting place for
learning more and finding other resources on the web
related to technology and its fast paced, changing nature.
Virtualization
Software
You can install and use Microsoft Windows and other
operating systems on the Apple's new computers with Intel
processors, making Macintosh computers the most versatile
out there. They also offer great value as you can run
multiple operating systems natively on one Apple computer
(Windows, Linux and Mac).
Boot Camp - Apple's free beta software allows
you to install Windows on an Intel Macintosh so one can
boot directly into Windows. Effectively makes your Mac a
full speed, bona fide Windows machine.
Parallels (can also be used on PC) - Excellent
virtualization software allows you to run Windows with
the Mac OS environment. It also allows Windows users to
install different versions of Windows and Linux/Unix
systems.
VMWare - Another virtualization program that
allows on to run Windows on a Intel Macintosh.
