Getting started with localization of a Mac OS X version of MacTelnet requires just a few simple steps:
- Volunteer via E-mail (kevin [at] ieee [dot] org), to let me know what language you want to handle; someone else may already be doing the work.
- You should install the Developer Tools components of Mac OS X, if you have not already. They include important tools such as Interface Builder that you will need.
- It is useful to follow Apple’s suggested process for localizing applications, which includes acquiring their localization tools to easily translate application resources.
Note that MacTelnet is frequently changing, as it is being restructured for Mac OS X. Still, any work done to localize it will be valuable to current users. Also, especially with Apple’s tools, incremental relocalization is possible, so later updates to MacTelnet will not necessarily invalidate any localization work done now.
