Quick: E-Mail Bug Report for MacTelnet [kevin@ieee.org]
Detailed: New Trac Ticket [sourceforge.net]
Collaborative: Google Group [groups.google.com]
Useful Things to Include in Bug Reports
- The MacTelnet version (use Get Info in the Finder)
- The system version (for example, "Mac OS X 10.4.2", or "Mac OS 8.5").
- If MacTelnet quits, a Console crash log (see below)
Enabling Crash Logs
Prior to Leopard, crash logs must be enabled using the Console application (in the Utilities folder) and its Preferences command.
Note that MacTelnet supports Unsanity’s Smart Crash Reports.
Finding Crash Logs
Once enabled, logs appear in Home ➞ Library ➞ Logs ➞ CrashReporter (or, in rare cases, directly in the root Library ➞ Logs ➞ CrashReporter).
On Leopard, you might not find MacTelnet logs; look for Python logs for the appropriate day and time.
Prior to Leopard, the file MacTelnet.crash.log is all you need.
