Tsunamis.
This is
horrific. The death toll is up to
19,000 150,000 220,000+. Scientists are
saying that the magnitude of the impact was equivalent to dropping a million
atomic bombs. Mother Nature is so not happy with us.
More importantly, however, my heartfelt
thoughts go out to all friends and their families in India and elsewhere who
have lost loved ones.
This is also
really not
good: Bin Laden officially tapping Zarqawi and
calling for the boycotting of Iraqi elections. Nice to see that the last major
Sunni party has pulled out of the
process.
It seems somewhat trivial in light of
all the other wretched things going on, but I started (finally) reading George
Lakoff's book Don't Think of an
Elephant! It's really fascinating. Check it out.
Also am reading Louis Menand's
The Metaphysical
Club, as well as
another book about Thoreau
entitled
Natural Life: Thoreau's Worldly
Transcendentalism.
Both fascinating.
But damnit, the world is falling apart.
