Representing Sexual Trauma in Contemporary American Art   Vivien Green Fryd,  University of Chicago Press, publication forthcoming. Paintings discussed at length.

"The Village Painters and the Forging of a Southern Artistic Legacy" - March 2008 -- Present. A book on 20th Century women artists of the American South. Research ongoing.

Guest-lecturer, Miss Porter’s School Farmington, CT. May 2008.  Instructed A.P. Art History students on the history of Feminist Art.

American Reflections: Recent Work by Kate McSpadden Vanderbilt University Fine Arts Gallery, Nashville, TN,. January 11 Ð February 15th, 2007.   The solo exhibition set a new standard as the fastest selling show in the gallery’s history.

"Evoke / Invoke / Provoke: A Multimedia Project of Discovery" Chancellor’s Artists-in-Residence Project, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN. Winter Ð Spring 2006. As a community artist selected through an application process, I participated in a project facilitated by Judy Chicago and Donald Woodman that combined an intensive art theory and art-making process with hands-on technical experience in all aspects of installation, show design, and promotion. The project culminated in a group exhibition at the historic Cohen building on Vanderbilt’s Peabody campus.

Contemporary Middle Eastern Feminist Art: Shirin Neshat and Zineb Sedira. January 2004 Ð May 2005. A work of original scholarship.

Margaret Stonewall Wooldridge Hamblet Award April 2005.   The Hamblet award for promising young artists is selected by an outside panel of jurors in an invitational of graduating seniors in the art and art history departments. The grant provides the recipient $20,000, the ability to travel and study, and culminates in a solo show at the Vanderbilt University Fine Arts Gallery 18 months after graduation.

Vision: Art and Art History Student Association 2003-5.   Served two terms as co-president of the student association, organizing guest lectures, hosting fundraisers, and assisting the University Fine Arts Gallery with show promotion and installation.  I also designed and built the organization’s website.

Phi Beta Kappa Seminar Award for Outstanding Creative Work  2001.   For the essay “Monet’s Garden at Giverny”.
