Thanks for stopping by! This site is all about my genealogy. That is, the study of family history. I have always been interested in history, family, and traditions. Genealogy involves all of that, and so much more. In my search, I have not only discovered some of my ancestors, but I have learned so much more about my Portuguese heritage.
I invite you to take a look at the surnames I am researching and climb around on My Family Tree. My husband's ancestry is totally Azorean and is on this site, as well. I have also included the surnames that a friend is researching from the Azores.
Some of the surnames I am currently researching are: ANDRADE, MACEDO, GOULARTE, SILVEIRA, CEASE (with other spellings including SEIZE, SEES, SEAS, SEASE. SEESE, SEISE, CEAS,and SUSS), COBB, COX, HINKLE, SPIDLE, WINGER, GARVER, ROSA, FARINHA, LATHROP, MACKLEY, WORKMAN, BROWNEWELL, and (woe is me) JONES. Some of these names, of course, are not Portuguese because 25% of my ancestry is not Portuguese but a mix of German, Dutch, French, and Irish.
Also, I am the coordinator for the Azores GenWeb site. So, if you're interested in the Azores, you will find lots of information there. Included are examples of records, tips on getting started with your research, maps of the Azores, folk customs, queries, valuable resources such as alien registrations and fraternal societies, queries, and much more.
