Another key in identifying abbreviations is to become familiar with those most commonly used. Although it is impossible to memorize all abbreviations, you can become familiar with those that were used frequently by the record keepers.
Following is a list of some of the most frequently used abbreviations. Study them and add to this list as you discover abbreviations that prove difficult for you. In this way you can complete your own glossary of abbreviations.
