- Burial*: She wascremated on 17 November 2006 at Sierra After Care, Jackson, Amador County, California.Her ashes were later spread at a viewpoint near Boomtown where her husband's were spread after his death. - Burial*: He was buried on 19 November 1919 at Holy Spirit Cemetery, Centerville, Alameda County, California. A family story passed down was that the Holy Ghost Church in Centerville supposedly burned down the day of his funeral. So many people attended and had lit candles. When they were at the cemetery, they noticed a glow in the sky and it later turned out to be the church burning. This, was later confrmed by: 'The funeral services of John Andrade, Sr. had been completed and they progressed down Central Avenue, to the cemetery. Suddenly, flames were sighted coming from the church sacristy.. . . . Now the church building was gone, probably a victim of forgotten candles from the funeral Mass.' John's grave is in Row 42 at the cemetery, next to that of his wife, Anna.

Death stalked amongst the 1,500 Spanish and Portuguese immigrants aboard the British steamship, Osteric, which arrived yesterday after a long voyage from Spain and Portugal. There were 48 deaths recorded among the children on the voyage. Measles was the cause, to enter on the Ship's Log. In all instances, the bodies were consigned to the sea for burial, but the Quarantine Officer detected evidence of scarlet fever and the Territorial Board of Health, which looked at the mother of the child who died just about when the steamer was to enter the harbor, announced last evening, that the child had died from scarlet fever. All immigrants were ordered and sent to the Quarantine Island. The vessel arrived shortly after 9:00 yesterday morning and went to the channel wharf. There were 1,452 immigrants on the vessel when it came alongside the wharf. 1,494 were aboard when the vessel left the Continent of Europe behind and started across the Atlantic. 58 (sic) children died, and 14 little ones were born at sea. There were ailing babies, seasick immigrants, and distress among the vast majority of the travelers, for they were not used to the cramped quarters of the big vessel and unaccustomed to the food served. They appeared to be a fine lot of people, said Sec. Of the Territory, Mott-Smith to the Immigration Doctor, Victor Clark. There were many disagreements between the Spanish and Portuguese immigrants; so much so that they had to be separated. The women seemed to be always on the acts of disagreements. They went as far as hair pulling. The Portuguese embarked from the agricultural districts of Lisbon while the Spaniards were from the district of Seville and from the mountain districts. The Portuguese were embarked from Lisbon; the Spanish embarked from Gibraltar. The S.S. Orteric took in 305 immigrants from Oporto and another 260 from Lisbon. After arriving in Hawaii in 1911, the family lived there for about 3 years before coming to California. They got an apartment in Hayward and later moved to Winton Road. John and Ida were married by Edward J. Tyrrell, a Justice of the Peace for the City of Oakland. Ida said she was 18 on the marriage certificate, when she was actually only 15.
- Death*: John Manuel Flower died on 17 October 1984 at 22455 Maple Court, Hayward, Alameda County, California, at age 78. Cause of death was congestive heart failure which he'd had for three days. That was due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease he suffered from for the last 10 years caused by arterio sclerosis heart disease. Also, chronic brain syndrome was listed as a significant condition contributing to his death.

Death stalked amongst the 1,500 Spanish and Portuguese immigrants aboard the British steamship, Osteric, which arrived yesterday after a long voyage from Spain and Portugal. There were 48 deaths recorded among the children on the voyage. Measles was the cause, to enter on the Ship's Log. In all instances, the bodies were consigned to the sea for burial, but the Quarantine Officer detected evidence of scarlet fever and the Territorial Board of Health, which looked at the mother of the child who died just about when the steamer was to enter the harbor, announced last evening, that the child had died from scarlet fever. All immigrants were ordered and sent to the Quarantine Island. The vessel arrived shortly after 9:00 yesterday morning and went to the channel wharf. There were 1,452 immigrants on the vessel when it came alongside the wharf. 1,494 were aboard when the vessel left the Continent of Europe behind and started across the Atlantic. 58 (sic) children died, and 14 little ones were born at sea. There were ailing babies, seasick immigrants, and distress among the vast majority of the travelers, for they were not used to the cramped quarters of the big vessel and unaccustomed to the food served. The Portuguese were embarked from Lisbon; the Spanish embarked from Gibraltar. The S.S. Orteric took in 305 immigrants from Oporto and another 260 from Lisbon. After arriving in Hawaii in 1911, the family lived there for about 3 years before coming to California. They got an apartment in Hayward and later moved to Winton Road.
