It was cold, dark, sleeting, and raining on November 27, 1954.
For some reason, there wasn’t any music played during Dick and Tudy (Ruth) wedding at The Church of the Nativity in Pleasant Ridge, Ohio. After a priest pronounced them husband and wife, the sun finally came out.
Lets fast-forward fifty years to November 27, 2004.
It was cold, dark, and rainy. But this time, the Terrace Park Country Club in Milford, Ohio was filled with music, laughter, and rekindled memories.
The 110-invited guests were treated to classical jazz and sentimental favorites by Mike Fitzpatrick’s jazz band. The guests were also treated to appetizers, a buffet-style meal, and drinks. All of the guests, including Dick and Tudy Thieken didn’t notice that a special tribute was ready to take place.
Dan Thieken quickly set up a large movie screen while Larry Klug connected his Apple Powerbook to a multimedia projector. Mike Fitzpatrick provided a quick sound check for Larry’s laptop. The Thieken grandchildren gathered together next to the table where Larry placed the projector.
Larry was given a wireless microphone and addressed the attendees.
“Gerrtings Mr. and Mrs. Thieken. My wife and I are here this evening on behalf of the children to present to you and your guests, YOUR MEMORY BOARD. This Memory Board is truly special. It contains the beauty of imagery and music synchronization.
Instead of photos being taped to a piece of poster board, you and your guests will see these images come alive and dance before your eyes. Your children, Nancy, Lynn, and Dan proudly present, your Memory Board.“
CLICK on the "Movie Memoryboard" tab to watch the presentation. The movie file is 21.5 MB. You will need Apple's QuickTime plug-in and a high broadband internet connection to watch the presentation. Apple's QuickTime plug-in is FREE at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
The lights quickly dimmed as Larry started the presentation. Throughout the 15-minute presentation, there was laughter, cheering, and tears of joy. The Country Club erupted in applause and a standing ovation following the presentation. “The pictures and music brought it all to life” said Dan Thieken.
