A movie about an obscure (but famous to scholars) ancient battle? I had to see this one ...

... of course it was based on a comic novel, not the actual historical event. Nevertheless, it was accurate enough, as we can't even expect historical accounts of the battle of Thermopylea to be very reliable either. The movie certainly caught the spirit of the battle on the fighting Spartans, and captured many famous sayings from this battle, such as "Come and Take Them" (response after the Persians asked the Spartans to surrender their arms) and "Then we'll fight in the shade" (after a Persian agent remarked that the emperor's army had so many archers, they'd rain so many arrows upon them to blot out the sun).

Ahh, yes, war is where courage shines.
